Cherubic Ventures has closed its sixth fund at $68.88 million, bringing total assets under management across the firm’s six funds above $500 million as it continues concentrating on early-stage AI investments.
The unusual $68.88 million fund size was deliberately selected because the number eight is traditionally associated with prosperity and good fortune in East Asian cultures.
Fund VI will continue Cherubic’s early-stage strategy across AI infrastructure, developer tools, enterprise software, healthcare, physical AI and robotics.
One of the fund’s notable portfolio companies is Sudo AI, a robotics startup that has reached a valuation of nearly $2 billion approximately two years after its founding.
Sudo AI was co-founded by embodied AI and 3D vision researcher Hao Su and entrepreneur Robin Han.
Its sudo R1 robotic system is trained through virtual simulation and is designed to manipulate unfamiliar objects without relying on real-world manipulation data.
Cherubic was the company’s earliest institutional investor.
The firm is also an early investor in Entire, the developer platform founded by former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke. Entire raised $60 million earlier in 2026, which Cherubic described as the largest seed round ever for a developer tools company.
Fund VI portfolio companies have already raised more than $500 million of subsequent capital despite the fund remaining relatively early in its investment cycle.
Other portfolio names include Patlytics, Max AI, Generation Lab and therapiAI.
Cherubic was founded in 2015 and operates under a solo general partner model led by Matt Cheng.
The firm has invested in more than 200 companies globally, including early investments in Hims & Hers, Flexport, Calm, Paidy, 91APP and Astranis.
More than 80 portfolio companies have achieved unicorn or super-unicorn status, while Paidy was acquired by PayPal for $2.7 billion.
KEY QUOTE:
“The past ten years have made me more certain that believing in founders before the answers are clear, and backing them through uncertainty, is at the heart of early-stage investing.”
