Chevrolet introduced the next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500, which it describes as the most powerful and advanced Silverado ever.
The 2027 Silverado 1500 is expected to go on sale at the end of this year. The new model builds on more than a century of Chevrolet truck experience while adding updated powertrains, a redesigned exterior, expanded off-road trims, and a fully digital interior experience.
The truck will continue to offer four powertrain options, including two next-generation V8 engines, an enhanced 2.7L TurboMax, and the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel.
The enhanced 2.7L TurboMax delivers what Chevrolet says is best-in-class standard torque and is now paired with a 10-speed transmission. The lineup also includes next-generation 5.7L and 6.6L V8 engines, which Chevrolet said deliver improved power and torque for towing, work, and daily driving.
The new V8 engines will be assembled by teams at GM’s Flint Engine Operations, Tonawanda Propulsion, and St. Catharines Propulsion plants. Chevrolet said the Silverado 1500 now offers the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 engine in its class, based on GM-estimated horsepower and torque ratings.
The 2027 Silverado will introduce a new seven-trim lineup: Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado, Trail Boss, ZR2, and High Country. Chevrolet said the lineup is intended to provide a broader range of value, capability, off-road performance, and premium options.
The new Silverado also features an all-new exterior design with a bolder stance, stronger front-end appearance, new LED headlights and taillights, more pronounced wheel opening moldings and rocker treatments, trim-specific lighting signatures, and standard dual exhaust on Custom and above.
Inside, every 2027 Silverado 1500 includes a new digital cockpit with a standard 16.3-inch center display and 12.2-inch driver information center. ZR2 and High Country models add a standard 11.5-inch front passenger screen, a head-up display, and a rear camera mirror, creating more than 60 inches of digital displays.
The interior also includes available dual wireless charging and a reconfigurable Multi-Flex center console. Silverado will continue offering Super Cruise driver-assistance technology with trailering capability, which Chevrolet says is a segment-exclusive hands-free driving feature for towing.
The ZR2 trim is positioned as the most off-road-capable ZR2 ever. It includes 35-inch mud-terrain tires, a 2-inch lift, a dedicated off-road hood with an enhanced power dome, standard front and rear electronic locking differentials, and Multimatic DSSV dampers paired with jounce dampers.
Inside, ZR2 features Torch Red accents, Torch Red-edged seatbelts, large digital displays, dual wireless charging, and real forged carbon-fiber trim on the doors and console. Chevrolet said this marks the first use of true carbon décor on ZR2 and GM’s first application of forged carbon.
The available ZR2 Bison Edition, developed with American Expedition Vehicles, adds front and rear AEV bumpers, rocker protection, 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels, skid plates, an AEV rear badge, and all-weather floor liners.
The Trail Boss trim is designed for customers seeking off-road capability at a more attainable level. It includes 34-inch mud-terrain tires, a 2-inch factory lift, a dedicated off-road hood, and unique interior themes with Torch Red-edged seatbelts and fabric accent inserts.
At the top of the lineup, the High Country trim adds flagship styling and premium interior details. Features include a new High Country badge, standard 22-inch After Midnight machine-faced wheels, an exclusive Tritan Satin grille, a Silverado-first panoramic sunroof, light and dark interior themes, real wood décor, Tritan Satin accents, custom seat treatments, and available microfiber suede materials.
The Silverado, Custom Trail Boss, and Custom trims are designed to provide full-size truck capability with more attainable configurations. For 2027, Silverado becomes a trim name, replacing LT. Silverado 4WD models will include the Z71 package as standard, adding skid plates, hill descent control, and off-road suspension.
Custom Trail Boss gives buyers an entry point into off-road styling and capability with a 2-inch lift and 34-inch tires, while the Custom trim adds dual exhaust and 20-inch Technical Gray machine-faced wheels.
The Work Truck trim is built for fleet customers and commercial operators. Chevrolet said it is designed for durability, serviceability, uptime, and compatibility with common upfits for construction, utilities, municipal, and commercial fleets. Work Truck also includes new digital displays, safety and driver-assistance technologies, and core connectivity features.
Availability and pricing for the 2027 Silverado 1500 will be announced later this year. The truck will be built at GM’s full-size truck assembly facilities in North America.
