Chiplytics Raises $4.5 Million To Strengthen U.S. Electronics Supply Chain

Chiplytics has raised $4.5 million in funding led by Scout Ventures and Waypoint Ventures and opened a new microelectronics inspection laboratory in Bellport, New York. The financing includes an Air Force Tactical Funding Increase, or TACFI, award supporting further development of Chiplytics’ inspection technology. Additional investors include QK Special Services, Industrious Ventures, Interwoven Ventures, Seattle Alliance of Angels and Cornell University’s Red Bear Angels.

Chiplytics plans to use the funding to support the laboratory buildout and expand its testing and engineering teams.

The company develops microelectronics verification technology intended to help manufacturers address supply-chain risks associated with counterfeit or noncompliant semiconductor components.

Chiplytics is positioning its technology around a persistent challenge in the electronics market. When semiconductor shortages disrupt normal supply channels, manufacturers can turn to independent distributors to obtain critical components, creating additional requirements around inspection, verification and traceability.

Its Verified by Chiplytics platform combines component inspection, reporting and compliance capabilities with procurement through a network of suppliers.

The company said every component passing through the platform can be inspected, with test results made traceable and pricing presented transparently.

The new Bellport laboratory is located within Quality King’s 600,000-square-foot flagship distribution center and supports the QK Special Services division’s supply-chain resilience activities.

The facility combines electrical testing technology originating from Sandia National Laboratories with automated visual inspection and methods aligned with the AS6171 standard.

Housing testing and distribution capabilities at the same location is intended to shorten turnaround times while giving customers a single channel for sourcing, verifying and delivering electronic components.

Chiplytics’ expansion comes as electronics manufacturers continue confronting risks associated with concentrated semiconductor supply chains, changing availability and demand for difficult-to-source components.

KEY QUOTES:

“Chiplytics closes a critical gap for our customers when parts are hard to source. Putting the lab inside our distribution center gives customers one accountable channel for sourcing, verifying, and delivering critical components, with faster turnaround and more complete verification.”

Justin Feig, CEO of QKSS

“We make the part cost and our fee clear upfront, then use advanced inspection technology to verify the parts and document the results.”

Stephen DiBartolomeo, Co-Founder of Chiplytics
