Circeus announced it has acquired Encodian, an independent document automation provider built for the Microsoft Power Platform. The acquisition expands Circeus’s AI-native portfolio of mission-critical software and adds a category-leading platform for automating document generation, conversion, extraction, manipulation, and workflow orchestration across Microsoft 365, Azure, and Power Platform environments.
Encodian’s flagship product, Flowr, enables organizations to automate complex document processes natively inside the Microsoft ecosystem. The company serves more than 3,000 paying customers across more than 80 geographies and offers more than 250 ready-to-use actions across nine Power Automate connectors. Encodian is also one of the few products in its category that is natively transactable through the Microsoft Marketplace.
The deal gives Circeus a deeper position in enterprise workflow automation at a time when AI agents are becoming more capable of handling complex work. While AI can generate content and assist with decision-making, enterprises still need trusted systems to execute tasks, manage files, apply templates, convert documents, and maintain auditable workflows. Circeus sees Encodian as a platform that AI agents can act through inside the Microsoft environment.
Circeus plans to invest in Encodian through its centralized AI platform, which includes a growing library of agents and skills that can be deployed across companies in the group. The company said this model has already helped drive AI-enabled bookings, EBITDA uplift after acquisitions, increased automation of customer experience interactions, and higher developer productivity through AI-assisted workflows.
Encodian will continue to operate under its existing brand, and founder and Managing Director Jay Goodison will remain in charge of the business. Circeus said it acquires companies to hold for the long term rather than sell them, and Encodian will gain access to forward-deployed AI engineering, growth expertise, and centralized back-office support.
Circeus has completed 18 acquisitions over the last four years, serves more than 200,000 businesses worldwide, and is backed by more than $220 million in capital raised to date. The company said additional acquisitions are expected to complete over the coming months.
KEY QUOTES:
“Encodian is the thesis in action. The most defensible software in the AI era is the software AI agents need to act through, not the software AI threatens to replace. Encodian already sits at the point of execution inside Microsoft 365, and that is exactly where we want to invest.”
Gian Maria Gramondi, Founder and COO of Circeus
“Joining Circeus lets us keep doing what we do best while adding AI engineering and reach we could not have built alone. Nothing changes for our customers except the pace at which the product improves.”
Jay Goodison, Founder and Managing Director of Encodian
