Clarivate has completed the $600 million sale of its Life Sciences & Healthcare segment to Altaris, advancing a broader effort to simplify the company’s portfolio and strengthen its balance sheet.
The transaction was originally announced on July 6, 2026.
Following the divestiture, Clarivate is concentrating its business around two primary segments: Academia & Government and Intellectual Property.
The company is positioning itself as a more focused, subscription-first provider of proprietary data, content, AI-powered intelligence, workflow software and technology-enabled services.
Its Academia & Government segment provides intelligence and workflow products to universities, research institutions, libraries, governments and funding organizations.
Products within the segment include Web of Science, ProQuest, Alma and Vega.
Clarivate’s Intellectual Property business provides patent, trademark, brand protection and innovation intelligence products, including IPOne, Derwent, CompuMark and IPfolio.
The company said both businesses are supported by proprietary content, workflow software and an expanding set of AI capabilities.
Clarivate intends to use proceeds from the $600 million transaction to reduce debt and strengthen its balance sheet, while increasing strategic and financial flexibility.
The company also expects the divestiture to support efforts to improve revenue quality, expand profitability and concentrate resources on long-term growth.
Clarivate plans to report third-quarter 2026 results on November 3 and update its full-year guidance to reflect the divestiture.
