Clay has raised $115 million in Series D funding at a $7.1 billion valuation as the AI go-to-market company expands its platform for automating prospecting, customer research and revenue growth. The financing was led by Wellington, with participation from Sequoia, StepStone, Andreessen Horowitz Perennial, Meritech, DST, CapitalG, BoxGroup, Boldstart, Bloomberg Beta and Evolution.
Clay now serves more than 17,000 companies, including 80% of the Forbes AI 50, as well as Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Stripe, ElevenLabs, Workday and Siemens.
The company’s platform is evolving from data aggregation and workflow automation into what Clay describes as a self-learning AI revenue engine.
Clay combines internal company information such as CRM records, product usage, campaign engagement, calls and emails with external signals including funding events, hiring activity and job changes.
That information is used to create a continuously updated view of a company’s target market and customers.
Teams can then describe a growth objective in plain language and have Clay translate it into a workflow.
For example, a company could ask the platform to book meetings with a specific category of prospective customers. Clay can identify relevant people, research their companies, generate tailored materials and set up outreach.
Its AI agents can also remember information from prospect interactions, identify recurring questions and update future sales materials accordingly. Companies retain control over whether workflows are manually constructed or generated by AI agents.
Clay refers to the people who build and operate these systems as GTM Engineers, with its growth agents designed to find ideal customers, monitor buying signals and launch products or campaigns to relevant audiences.
The company said the platform learns from the outcomes of those activities and improves as it gains a deeper understanding of a customer’s business, market and buyers.
Alongside the Series D, Clay announced a $1 million scholarship fund designed to train more GTM Engineers. The field includes professionals coming from revenue operations, growth marketing, software engineering and design backgrounds.
Clay plans to preview additional products at Sculpt, its second annual user conference, on October 8 in San Francisco.
Founded in 2017 by Kareem Amin and Nicolae Rusan, with Varun Anand joining as a co-founder in 2021, Clay is headquartered in New York.
