Clean Energy Ventures Appoints Aruna Ramsamy As Managing Partner To Expand European Growth Strategy

Clean Energy Ventures has appointed Aruna Ramsamy as Managing Partner as the climate technology investment firm expands its early-growth and growth-stage investment capabilities and deepens its presence in Europe.

Ramsamy will be based in Clean Energy Ventures’ London office and lead the firm’s European operations.

Her responsibilities will include identifying, evaluating, and structuring new investments, supporting portfolio companies through major stages of commercialization, and participating in the expansion of the firm’s asset management platform.

Ramsamy brings decades of experience across venture capital, growth equity, project finance, and asset management throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Before joining Clean Energy Ventures, she served as a Venture Partner focused on Growth Equity at Extantia.

She previously served as Managing Director of Just Climate, the investment business established by Generation Investment Management with a $1.5 billion fund focused on scaling industrial climate solutions.

Earlier in her career, Ramsamy held senior leadership positions at Climate Investment, formerly OGCI, which managed more than $1 billion for investment in advanced energy and climate technologies across Europe and North America.

From 2010 through 2017, she also led investments at Soros Economic Development Fund, a $300 million fund supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in frontier markets.

Ramsamy has held board positions involving companies including Svante, Stegra, Metron, Econic Technologies, Ontruck, and Ascend Elements.

Clean Energy Ventures expects her experience financing capital-intensive industrial projects to help portfolio companies navigate the transition from technology development to commercial-scale deployment.

The firm invests in technologies it believes could contribute to multi-gigaton reductions in carbon dioxide emissions over the coming decades and supports businesses from seed-stage development through commercialization.
