CleanCapital: $185 Million Private Placement Debt Deal Closed To Finance Distributed Solar And Storage Portfolio

By Amit Chowdhry ● Dec 17, 2025

CleanCapital has completed a $185 million private placement debt issuance to what it described as top U.S. investors, securing long-term financing flexibility to support a growing portfolio of distributed generation solar and energy storage projects. The New York-based independent power producer said the facility initially comprises 156 projects totaling more than 180 megawatts and is structured to scale through additional tranches over time.

The company framed the transaction as a way to meet rising U.S. energy demand and address affordability and grid reliability challenges by financing distributed solar and storage assets that can add capacity more cost-effectively. CleanCapital said the private placement reflects investor confidence in both the distributed generation market and CleanCapital’s ability to deliver consistent returns, while also opening an additional segment of the debt market that has historically been less accessible to distributed generation sponsors.

CleanCapital said the financing is designed to provide a scalable, long-term solution tailored to the needs of distributed generation projects, enabling more efficient project financing and continued buildout of clean energy capacity delivered to the grid. The company also highlighted its activity over the past decade, stating it has acquired, built and managed clean energy assets representing more than $1.5 billion in total enterprise value and expects the new debt facility to support further expansion across solar and storage opportunities in the United States.

Support: Milbank LLP served as legal counsel to CleanCapital on the transaction.
