ClickUp announced it has acquired Codegen, an AI-powered code generation and agentic AI platform, as the company accelerates development of “Super Agents” designed to operate inside ClickUp’s workspace as collaborative AI teammates.
The acquisition brings Codegen’s technology and team into ClickUp, positioning Super Agents as a new layer of work automation that goes beyond task execution to planning, software creation, and cross-functional coordination. ClickUp says these agents are built to “collaborate like co-workers” and reduce context fragmentation by running natively within its unified environment for docs, projects, and workflows.
According to ClickUp, Super Agents can autonomously complete projects, generate software, and take action using more than 500 work skills. The company also said the agents feature “human-level memory,” learn from interactions, and operate with enterprise-grade security and permissions intended to match organizational controls.
A key element of the deal is leadership integration. Codegen founder and CEO Jay Hack will join ClickUp as Head of AI, reflecting ClickUp’s effort to deepen its AI bench while productizing agentic capabilities for a broad set of business users, from engineering and product teams to sales and enterprise operations.
ClickUp framed the acquisition as another step toward what it calls a “Converged AI Workspace,” aiming to centralize tools, data, and workflows in a single system where humans and AI agents can work together. The company said it is trusted by more than 20 million users worldwide.
KEY QUOTES:
“The future isn’t about humans adapting to AI, it’s about AI adapting to humans. By bringing Codegen’s world-class team and technology together with ClickUp Super Agents, we’re realizing the promise of truly intelligent digital coworkers. Super Agents don’t just automate. They understand, remember, and act with context, unlocking a new era of productivity where anyone can build and scale work systems without writing a single line of code.”
Zeb Evans, Founder + CEO, ClickUp
“The bottleneck to agents transforming how work is done is no longer AI capabilities, it’s context. ClickUp is the only platform that houses all of a company’s plans, docs, and goals in one place. By combining Codegen’s agentic technology with ClickUp’s unified workspace, we’re not just building a smarter coding tool; we’re building a Super Agent workforce that scales infinitely across software engineering, product management, sales, enterprise workflows, and beyond.”
Jay Hack, Founder + CEO, Codegen (Incoming Head Of AI, ClickUp)
