Clifford Chance US announced that Carter L. Olson has joined the firm as a partner in its Houston office. Olson joins the firm’s Global Financial Markets practice and expands Clifford Chance’s finance and derivatives capabilities in the U.S.
Olson advises borrowers, end-users, lenders, private equity sponsors, and portfolio companies on secured and unsecured finance matters.
His practice includes complex debt financings and derivative products, including project finance, syndicated finance, reserve-based loans, and other asset-based revolving credit facilities.
Olson has experience across sectors including maritime, oilfield services, upstream and midstream oil and gas, renewables, and power generation.
Clifford Chance said Olson’s arrival supports the firm’s continued growth in private credit and finance and strengthens its ability to advise clients on derivatives and structured finance matters.
The firm also said his addition builds on momentum in its Houston office, including continued expansion of its energy finance capabilities.
Olson’s arrival follows the firm’s recent Houston litigation and arbitration expansion through the additions of J. Laurens Wilkes and Caitlin Gernert in May.
Clifford Chance’s Americas platform includes more than 450 attorneys across New York, Washington, D.C., Houston, and São Paulo.
