Clifford Chance: Paris Partner Hires Strengthen Private Capital, Energy And Infrastructure Practices

By Amit Chowdhry ● Apr 5, 2026

Clifford Chance has hired two partners from Orrick to strengthen its private capital capabilities in Europe, adding Patrick Tardivy and Paul Loisel to its Paris office as part of a broader global expansion strategy.

Tardivy, who previously served as Orrick’s partner-in-charge for Europe, focuses on M&A and private equity with significant experience in energy, infrastructure and technology transactions. His work spans advising investment funds, financial investors and multinational companies on both domestic and cross-border deals.

Loisel specializes in project finance and strategic finance transactions across the energy and infrastructure sectors. He advises sponsors and lenders on large-scale financings, including both greenfield and brownfield projects, primarily across France and the broader EMEA region.

The hires are intended to enhance Clifford Chance’s ability to support clients across the full private capital lifecycle while deepening its sector expertise in energy and infrastructure. The move also reflects continued competition among global law firms for top talent in high-demand practice areas tied to private capital and energy transition.

These additions follow a series of recent lateral hires within Clifford Chance’s global private capital practice, including partners in New York, London, Singapore, Paris and Luxembourg, underscoring the firm’s ongoing investment in expanding its international bench.
