CME Group Names Jack Tobin As CFO, John Marchese As General Counsel And Matthew Render As Chief Accounting Officer

CME Group has announced several senior leadership changes across its finance and legal organizations as the derivatives marketplace prepares for previously announced CEO succession.

Jack Tobin will become Chief Financial Officer in March 2027, when current President and CFO Lynne Fitzpatrick becomes CEO. Tobin will first become Deputy CFO in November 2026 to support the transition.

Tobin has served as CME Group’s Chief Accounting Officer since 2015 and has more than 35 years of financial experience. Since joining CME Group in 2002, he has overseen accounting, corporate development and other finance functions. He previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Matthew Render will succeed Tobin as Chief Accounting Officer. Render joined CME Group as Deputy Chief Accounting Officer in August 2026 after previously holding finance roles at Citadel, BP and Ernst & Young.

CME Group has also promoted John Marchese to General Counsel. He will join the company’s management team and report to Chairman and CEO Terry Duffy.

Marchese, who has served as Managing Director and Associate General Counsel for Litigation & Information Technology since 2024, will succeed Jonathan Marcus later in September. Marcus is stepping down after serving as General Counsel since 2022.

Marchese joined CME Group in 2011 to lead its litigation function after holding leadership positions at Arthur Andersen and Latham & Watkins.
