Coalition Buys Wirespeed To Expand Automated Managed Detection And Response Capabilities

By Amit Chowdhry • Nov 9, 2025

Coalition announced that it has acquired Wirespeed, a cybersecurity platform designed to analyze and triage threat detections in milliseconds. Coalition said this acquisition will strengthen its Active Insurance platform by integrating automated Managed Detection and Response with its existing suite of cyber risk management tools and insurance offerings.

The company stated that the combined platform is designed to provide organizations with faster and more effective protection as cyber threats continue to evolve in speed and complexity.

Businesses worldwide continue to face increasing cyber risks while managing constrained security budgets and limited staffing resources. Coalition said that reaction time is a critical variable when responding to threats because delays can be the difference between sustained operations and significant downtime. Automated MDR is positioned as a solution that can scale while limiting the resource burden commonly associated with traditional cybersecurity monitoring and response services.

Wirespeed’s platform provides a threat verdict in milliseconds and uses a proprietary conditional logic approach supported by probabilistic AI. The platform integrates with Slack, Microsoft Teams, email, and SMS to accelerate incident response and reduce alert volumes. Wirespeed reports that users see a 99.99% reduction in alert noise. The system aligns with the ISO 2859 quality standard, aiming to improve detection confidence while keeping response costs manageable.

Following the acquisition, Wirespeed’s MDR will incorporate data from Coalition’s Active Data Graph, including external attack surface intelligence and claims information, expanding automated protection to a larger number of organizations. Tim MalcomVetter, Wirespeed’s CEO and co-founder, will join Coalition as General Manager, Security. Jake Reynolds, Wirespeed’s CTO and co-founder, will become Head of Engineering, Coalition Security.

Coalition said the acquisition advances its strategy of providing preventative digital risk protection by combining automated cybersecurity defense with insurance coverage and incident support.

KEY QUOTES:

“The acquisition of Wirespeed represents the next phase of Coalition’s mission to protect the unprotected. By combining fully automated, rapid Managed Detection & Response with our Active Insurance platform, we’re bringing best-in-class cyber protection to organizations of every size—and as a cybersecurity provider whose incentives are directly aligned with our customers in preventing losses, we’re setting a new standard for digital risk prevention.”

Joshua Motta, CEO and Co-founder, Coalition

“Wirespeed was founded on the belief that the world needs a completely new and more scalable approach to cybersecurity monitoring. Attackers are moving faster, telemetry volumes are unmanageable, defenders are numb to annoying alerts, and costs are going through the roof. Joining the Coalition team means we can integrate Wirespeed’s instant threat verdicts directly into the Active Insurance framework, fundamentally changing how businesses of all sizes are protected from cyber risk.”

Tim MalcomVetter, CEO and Co-founder, Wirespeed

“Our work at Wirespeed has always been about speed-to-protection, and by joining Coalition, we are not just plugging in a technology; we are marrying sophisticated, automated MDR with the cyber insurance industry’s comprehensive risk intelligence. This has the potential to set a new standard for cyber protection, ensuring that businesses don’t just survive cyber incidents, but avoid them entirely.”
