Coating Place, a U.S.-based contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specializing in microencapsulation, has secured a strategic growth capital investment from 1315 Capital, the firms said. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The deal is intended to support Coating Place’s next phase of expansion as demand increases for its microencapsulation services across pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, animal health, and industrial end markets. Coating Place said it will use the investment to scale operations and broaden its commercial reach, building on proprietary equipment and processes designed to support customers from product formulation through commercial manufacturing.

The company focuses on Wurster fluid bed microencapsulation technology and offers services spanning formulation and analytical development, technology transfer, process scale-up, and commercial manufacturing. Coating Place said it operates more than 350,000 square feet across two sites and maintains GMP quality standards, along with FDA and Health Canada registration and DEA licensing.

1315 Capital, a Philadelphia-based healthcare-focused private equity firm, said it targets growth investments in commercial-stage healthcare services, outsourced services for pharma and medtech, related products, and health and wellness companies. The firm said it manages more than $1 billion in assets and makes both minority and majority investments.
