CodeRabbit, an AI-based platform transforming the code review process, announced it has completed a $16 million Series A funding round. The funding round – which was Led by CRV – also included participation from Flex Capital, Engineering Capital and prominent angel investors, including Olivier Pomel (CEO of Datadog).

CodeRabbit’s platform automates code reviews by tapping into advanced AI reasoning, which comprehends the intent behind the code and delivers actionable human-like feedback. And traditional static analysis tools and linters are rule-based and often generate high false-positive rates, while peer reviews are time-consuming and subjective. The company’s AI-first approach improves code quality and significantly reduces the manual effort required in the code review process.

CodeRabbit has a major presence in open-source projects and usage across organizations of all sizes and verticals. After initially gaining traction in the SMB and mid-market segments, the company onboarded over 600 paid organizations within a year of launch, the company is now expanding into the large enterprise market and is currently testing self-hosted versions of its platform and is conducting proof-of-concept (PoC) trials with several Fortune 500 companies.

This funding round will support CodeRabbit’s expansion of product offerings and integrations, including enhanced security and vulnerability analysis capabilities, deeper integrations with platforms like Jira and Slack and AI-driven analytics and reporting tools to boost developer productivity and code quality. And the platform will also introduce advanced AI automation for dependency management, code refactoring, unit test generation and documentation generation.

CodeRabbit was launched by Harjot Gill, a serial entrepreneur with a history of successful ventures, including co-founding FluxNinja and Netsil, which was acquired by Nutanix. And co-founder Gur Singh is a seasoned engineering leader with extensive experience building SaaS products in the healthcare sector, having led engineering and product teams at Alegeus.

Along with R&D, CodeRabbit is investing in go-to-market functions to accelerate customer acquisition and revenue growth. And the company is expanding its sales and marketing teams and enhancing community and developer relations to drive organic growth. The company also plans to invest in customer success and support functions.
