Cofounder.AI has appointed former Google X executive AJ Thomas as Chief Operating Officer, adding a venture investor, operator and founder coach to its leadership team as the AI-native startup expands its partnerships and operations.
Thomas will lead partnerships and oversee finance, legal and human resources alongside Cofounder.AI founder and CEO Clarence Wooten.
Wooten and Thomas previously worked together at Google X, Alphabet’s Moonshot Factory, where Thomas served as Global Head of Talent & People Products.
Thomas is also a co-founder of Troublemaker Ventures, which includes venture fund Good Trouble Ventures and growth advisory firm The Troublemaker Lab.
Her appointment gives Cofounder.AI an executive with more than 15 years of experience across venture capital, talent development and company building.
Cofounder.AI is developing an AI-based operating platform intended to provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with capabilities that can resemble the support typically provided by a co-founder, board, investor network or operating team.
Thomas’ initial priorities include developing university and startup ecosystem partnerships that can bring the platform to student entrepreneurs and early-stage founders.
Her work at Troublemaker Ventures has centered around three areas: providing capital through Good Trouble Ventures, advising founders and enterprise teams on operating and go-to-market strategy through The Troublemaker Lab, and building communities connecting entrepreneurs with investors, operators and technology leaders.
Alongside Thomas’ appointment, Cofounder.AI and Good Trouble Ventures have established an alliance partnership.
Every current and future Good Trouble Ventures portfolio founder will receive a free one-year Cofounder.AI license.
The arrangement is intended to provide those founders with additional AI support around fundraising readiness, diligence and day-to-day company operations.
KEY QUOTES:
“Most small business owners are building alone, without a cofounder, operating leverage or a board to lean on. AJ has spent her career giving founders exactly that kind of support, at Google X, as an investor, and as an operator and leadership coach. She knows what it takes to build teams and companies that last, and she’s the right person to scale Cofounder.AI’s partnerships and operations.”
Clarence Wooten, Founder and CEO of Cofounder.AI
“I’ve sat on every side of the table: operator, investor and leadership coach. The pattern is the same everywhere. Talent is evenly distributed, but support is not. Cofounder.AI gives every entrepreneur the operating leverage that used to be reserved for founders with the right network. My job is to make sure humanity and technology get equal weight as we build it, so we can deliver on our mission for the entrepreneurs and small business owners who are the heartbeat of our economy.”
AJ Thomas, Chief Operating Officer of Cofounder.AI
“Capital alone doesn’t build a company. Operating leverage does. Putting Cofounder.AI in every founder’s hands means our support doesn’t stop when the meeting ends.”
Kat Steinmetz, Co-Founder and General Partner of Good Trouble Ventures
