Cogent Security: $11 Million Raised For AI Taskforce For Vulnerability Management

By Amit Chowdhry • Jul 16, 2025

Cogent Security has officially launched the first AI task force for vulnerability management, emerging from stealth mode. The company, which originated in Greylock Partners’ Edge program, has secured $11 million in funding, with contributions from Lockstep and angel investors from organizations such as OpenAI.

As the fastest-growing cause of data breaches, vulnerabilities have surged due to the rise of generative AI, which has increased software development and left many organizations exposed. Meanwhile, threat actors are exploiting these vulnerabilities at an increasingly rapid rate.

Founded by Vineet Edupuganti (CEO), Geng Sng (CTO), and Thanos Baskous (VP of Engineering), Cogent Security aims to address long-standing inefficiencies in vulnerability management. Their AI agents enhance the capabilities of security teams by autonomously handling critical tasks in the vulnerability management lifecycle, such as:

  • Assessing the risks of infrastructure and applications.

  • Prioritizing critical vulnerabilities.

  • Identifying effective fixes.

  • Guiding issue resolution.

  • Creating reports for executive stakeholders.

KEY QUOTE:

“With AI, threat actors are moving faster than ever, which is putting a huge strain on legacy vulnerability management frameworks. These frameworks rely heavily on manual workflows like context gathering, risk assessment, and coordination between security, infrastructure, and IT teams. However, these human-driven processes are simply too slow and inefficient to keep up with modern threats. That’s why we built Cogent: to bring automated, real-time intelligence to the vulnerability management lifecycle and help businesses neutralize cyber threats before attackers can act.”
