Cohen & Co announced the acquisition of Gordon Advisors, P.C., expanding the firm’s Michigan presence and making the state one of its largest geographic markets. The transaction is expected to close on June 1, 2026.
Founded in 1954, Gordon Advisors, P.C. is based in Troy, Michigan, and employs approximately 50 people. The firm provides tax, assurance, and advisory services to middle-market closely held businesses, real estate companies, and high-net-worth individuals and families throughout Southeast Michigan.
Cohen & Co said the acquisition reflects its continued investment in the greater Detroit market and complements its existing downtown Detroit office presence. Following the transaction, the firm plans to retain the Troy office while consolidating its suburban St. Clair Shores location into Troy later this year after the current lease expires.
All client service team members from Gordon Advisors, P.C., including five leadership team members, are expected to join Cohen & Co upon closing.
The acquisition follows a strategic growth investment made by Lovell Minnick Partners into Cohen & Co at the end of 2024. According to the company, this transaction represents Cohen & Co’s fourth acquisition since that investment and aligns with the firm’s broader expansion strategy focused on acquisitions, leadership hiring, and organic growth across key industry sectors.
Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP served as legal counsel to Cohen & Co, while Plunkett Cooney represented Gordon Advisors in the transaction.
