Cohen & Company Capital Markets has launched a dedicated private credit advisory practice and appointed Daniel Sheriff as Managing Director and Head of Private Credit.
Christian Watson has also joined the new practice as Director of Private Credit.
The expansion adds specialized debt financing and credit advisory capabilities to CCM’s existing M&A advisory and public and private capital-raising businesses.
The firm plans to advise middle-market companies on private credit alternatives for acquisitions, growth investments, recapitalizations and refinancing transactions.
Sheriff brings experience across corporate banking, structured credit, financial modeling, underwriting and capital structuring.
Before joining CCM, he advised companies on credit solutions at Catalyst Strategic Credit Group and previously underwrote debt facilities at PNC Financial Services Group.
His PNC work included borrowers ranging from middle-market businesses to Fortune 500 companies.
Sheriff is also a six-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and Army.
Watson brings more than a decade of experience advising management teams on financial operations, treasury management and working-capital strategy.
His background includes credit origination and placement as well as emerging technology and venture banking, including roles at Catalyst Strategic Credit Group and PNC.
The private credit launch is intended to expand CCM’s ability to provide companies with alternatives to traditional bank financing while integrating debt advice with the firm’s broader strategic advisory capabilities.
