Collaborative Music Workplace Company Myxt Raises $2 Million

Myxt has announced the launch of its audio file management platform for creators to stream, collaborate, and discover new insights on their library. And Myxt also announced its seed funding of $2 million led by Accel and Quiet Capital to support the development of the company’s centralized audio workplace and help expand its growing community of creators.

Myxt was built for answering the lack of file-sharing options for audio formats. And it brings the tools commonly seen in other workflows such as commenting, real-time collaboration, note-taking, and promotion to a platform fit for audio. Following beta tests with musicians, producers, and managers for the last 2 years, Myxt is introducing its solution for audio professionals including:

1.) The storage and organization built for audio including WAV support and time-stamped commenting.

2.) Sharing features for making it easy to collaborate with others on a project or engage with fans on social media, including an embedded video export tool.

3.) Creative AI tools like reference track mastering and auto-generated lyrics.

Myxt was founded by Chris Wetherell and Sheena Pakanati, both of whom were early engineers for leading tech companies including Google, Stripe, and Twitter. At those companies, they built the foundations for easy-to-use interfaces and scaled integral product features globally. Together they also saw an opportunity to build similar functional tools for independent musicians and the broader audio industry.

Myxt is committed to building a tool that is available and accessible to all creators – no matter their level of technical expertise. And the team is currently dedicated to incorporating new tools to give anyone the ability to grow, test, and share their content with tools similar to those used by top industry professionals. Myxt is available on the web, iOS, and Android devices.

This is a list of features on Myxt:

Storage and organization built for audio

1.) Myxt’s platform – which is available on web, desktop, and mobile devices – forms a single location to stream tracks, organize files, and back up their library.

2.) Users can create inboxes to receive and organize inbound tracks from others.

3.) All tracks can be transcribed automatically and annotated with notes or time-stamped comments.

4.) Tools that aim to alleviate industry-wide challenges such as version tracking, transferring large files, and visibility into who has viewed or downloaded a track.

Share with collaborators and followers

1.) Tracks can be shared as secure links for others to react, add notes, or provide time-stamped feedback on any file, with the option to download any file.

2.) Shared spaces called “Teams” are for creators and their collaborators to work on a project. Anyone in a Team can manage, edit, or provide feedback on files in the shared library.

3.) When ready for promotion, produce videos, visualizers, static images, or lyric videos accompanied by the track.

Work on tracks with AI

1.) Users can quickly integrate creative feedback or inspiration by adding a live voice recording to their library or on top of a track, or with Myxt’s AI-supported mastering tool.

2.) Provide Myxt with a reference track and Myxt will master a version to match the dynamics, stereo image, and frequency response.

KEY QUOTES:

“Imagine if someone designed file sharing for artists as a starting point, rather than an afterthought. Millions of artists need to stream their files and be able to work on them in increments down to the millisecond. Myxt was born out of the need for an intuitive tool that understands how collaboration works in audio. We first set out to confront file storage and sharing, and have enhanced it with other AI and audio tools to make it as easy as possible for artists to focus on their work.”

– Chris Wetherell, Myxt Co-founder and CEO

“Chris and Sheena are outstanding engineers with experience building products people love including Google Reader, Twitter, and Stripe. Workflow software such as Figma and GitHub has enabled tremendous increases in productivity for designers and software engineers respectively. Audio creators have been left behind and Myxt is here to help them catch up.”

– Dan Levine, an early investor in Myxt and Partner at Accel
