CollimateHealth announced the closing of an oversubscribed €6 million (about $6.9 million) seed funding round as the company seeks to advance its proprietary microbeam radiation therapy technology and transform the future of oncology.
The financing was backed by VP Venture Partners, Positron, xista science ventures, High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), and caesar. The company said the new capital will support the development of its breakthrough approach to radiation treatment, which is designed to deliver ultra-narrow radiation beams that can trigger intense tumor cell death while reducing damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
According to CollimateHealth, its microbeam technology has the potential to activate the immune system and improve the effectiveness of chemotherapy and immunotherapy while minimizing side effects commonly associated with conventional radiation treatments. The company believes the approach could redefine radiation oncology by offering a more targeted and less harmful method for treating cancer.
The company’s scientific foundation has been built over nearly a decade by Chief Scientific Officer Prof. Dr. Stefan Bartzsch and Chief Technology Officer Dr. Johanna Winter. Chief Executive Officer Dr. Hans Maria Heÿn is leading efforts to commercialize the technology and bring it into clinical use. CollimateHealth said its interdisciplinary team spans expertise across radiation oncology, engineering, and medical technology.
CollimateHealth’s work has received multiple recognitions, including the Falling Walls Foundation Award 2025, Runner-Up Team 2025 honors from UnternehmerTUM, the MedTech Ideator Award 2025 at Best of Biotech from Austria Wirtschaftsservice, and the BioVaria Award 2026.
The company also highlighted ongoing collaborations with leading academic and research institutions, including the Technical University of Munich, TUM Klinikum Rechts der Isar, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research, Forschungszentrum Jülich, and The Institute of Cancer Research.
CollimateHealth said it aims to leverage these partnerships and its scientific expertise to accelerate the development of next-generation cancer therapies and ultimately improve outcomes for patients worldwide.
