Comparables.ai Raises $6 Million Seed Round To Expand AI-Powered M&A Intelligence Platform

Comparables.ai has raised $6 million in seed funding to expand its AI-powered M&A intelligence platform globally as enterprise adoption grows across more than 30 countries. The funding round was led by Pragmatech and Araya Ventures, with participation from Purple Ventures, Gorilla Capital, hi5 Ventures, Somersault Ventures and other investors.

Comparables.ai plans to use the new capital to support multi-market rollouts and further develop its core AI engine. The Helsinki, Finland-based company said enterprise customers are already expanding their deployments across geographies, including a Big Four advisory firm that is extending its use of the platform to more than 10 countries.

The platform currently supports more than 50,000 professionals across over 30 countries and is designed for corporate development teams, private equity firms, M&A advisors and investment banks conducting mid-market deal origination and analysis.

Comparables.ai is seeking to address a longstanding challenge in M&A: the difficulty of obtaining complete visibility into private and public companies across markets. Deal teams frequently rely on a combination of company registries, databases, spreadsheets and existing professional relationships when identifying potential acquisition targets or buyers.

The company’s platform combines a worldwide dataset covering more than 370 million active companies with an AI-native discovery engine intended to help users map markets substantially faster.

Its data includes private-company financial information, corporate group structures, valuation data, M&A transactions and verified contact information. Users can describe the market or category they want to evaluate and use the platform to identify relevant companies along with their financials, ownership structures and decision makers.

Comparables.ai said the approach can help corporate development teams identify potential acquisition targets before internal strategy discussions, allow private equity firms to screen potential add-on acquisitions across multiple markets simultaneously, and help M&A advisors develop broader lists of potential buyers without depending exclusively on existing relationships.

The company was founded by Niko Nalli, Markus Vesala, Martin Kangasniemi and Muhammad Ammad-ud-din.

Nalli, Vesala and Kangasniemi bring experience across M&A advisory and financial markets, while Ammad-ud-din, Comparables.ai’s co-founder and CTO, has a research background in machine learning.

Ammad-ud-din holds a Ph.D. from Aalto University’s Department of Computer Science and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Helsinki. His work has included developing machine-learning methods for integrating multiple data sources into recommender systems, with peer-reviewed research published in journals including Nature Biotechnology.

At Comparables.ai, that experience is being applied to combining fragmented information from different markets and jurisdictions into a unified data and intelligence platform for private companies.

The company believes AI can enable deal teams to conduct more of the early stages of market discovery themselves, allowing organizations to identify and evaluate opportunities before bringing in external advisors.

Investors backing the seed round see an opportunity to challenge established M&A data and intelligence products with an AI-native platform built around broader discovery rather than traditional database filters.

Comparables.ai is headquartered in Helsinki and serves customers in more than 30 countries.

KEY QUOTES:

“Mid-market M&A has always been a visibility problem. If you cannot see the whole field, you cannot run the best process. We built Comparables.ai to give any deal team the asymmetric advantage of a global bank.

We are seeing a fundamental shift. Deal teams are taking more of the early market discovery into their own hands, reducing the time and cost of identifying opportunities before engaging external advisors. With our data and technology, teams who have the capital but not the bandwidth can now run a more structured and global search from day one.”

Martin Kangasniemi, Co-Founder of Comparables.ai

“Araya are excited to back this incredible team of talented operators who are supercharging dealmaking and M&A activity with full transparency, data and true market visibility.”

Rupa Popat, Founder and Managing Partner of Araya Ventures

“What gave us conviction was the combination of a strong customer base, including Big Fours, consistent evidence that the product delivers real value in customers’ day-to-day work, and a team with deep M&A expertise. Comparables.ai’s AI-native approach is disrupting a market still dominated by legacy, filter-based tools, giving it a clear competitive advantage. We believe the company can become a category leader in M&A intelligence.”
