Compass Pathways has selected five U.S. organizations to receive grants for developing healthcare provider training programs supporting the potential post-approval delivery of COMP360 psilocybin, expanding the program beyond the three recipients initially planned because of the quality of applicants.
The programs are intended to provide foundational education in psychedelics and prepare healthcare professionals to care for patients receiving COMP360 following its expected U.S. commercial launch, if the investigational treatment receives regulatory approval.
The five recipients are CME Outfitters in Radnor, Pennsylvania; Emory University in Atlanta; Fluence International in the Bronx, New York; Integrative Psychiatry Institute in Longmont, Colorado; and Strata Mental Health Solutions in Atlanta.
Compass selected recipients through a competitive process evaluating their expertise and ability to develop and deliver training at scale. The organizations will remain independent education providers and retain ownership and control of their training programs, content, faculty selection and educational design.
Compass will provide grant funding to support development of training content, delivery platforms and related materials intended to help sites prepare operationally for a possible COMP360 launch. Applicants were evaluated on psychedelic training experience, scalability, access and inclusion, governance and regulatory alignment.
The company has separately developed guidance documents covering real-world COMP360 delivery and consistent training guidance. Those documents are independent from the programs created by grant recipients and may also be used as resources by other organizations developing training.
COMP360 is Compass Pathways’ proprietary investigational synthetic psilocybin treatment being evaluated for treatment-resistant depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. The program has received Breakthrough Therapy designation from the FDA for treatment-resistant depression.
