Comtech Telecommunications has received a follow-on space components contract worth more than $5 million to support a major U.S. civil space exploration program, the company said Tuesday. The award calls for Comtech to provide advanced electronic components and component engineering services to a leading aerospace and defense prime contractor involved in next-generation human space exploration, with the work aimed at enabling technologies for missions that will explore new areas of the lunar surface.

The contract extends Comtech’s long-standing role in supplying microelectronics and engineering services for space-bound systems. The Chandler, Arizona-based company said it has supported space customers for decades and has provided parts procurement and supply chain management services for space programs since 1976. Comtech added that NASA and the U.S. Department of Defense continue to rely on its capabilities to help manage critical space components.

The company positioned the award as further validation of its presence in an expanding global space economy. Daniel Gizinski, president of Comtech’s Satellite & Space Communications segment, said the contract reflects partners’ confidence in Comtech’s ability to deliver mission-critical technologies for high-profile space missions. Gizinski also cited forecasts projecting the global space industry could reach $1.8 trillion by 2035, saying Comtech expects sustained demand from key customers and opportunities to broaden into additional areas.
