Conti Federal Wins $67.6 Million U.S. Navy Contract To Expand Ordnance Storage At NAS Sigonella

Conti Federal Services has been awarded a $67.6 million contract to expand ordnance storage infrastructure at Naval Air Station Sigonella in Sicily.

Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Atlantic awarded the contract, marking Conti Federal’s second project at the strategic installation supporting U.S. and allied operations across the Mediterranean.

The project includes construction of four heavy-duty earth-covered ordnance magazines featuring specialized seismic upgrades.

Conti Federal will also build two modular storage facilities and complete related site and infrastructure improvements.

The expanded facilities are intended to increase storage capacity for mission-critical munitions while improving resilience to seismic events.

The project builds on Conti Federal’s existing military construction work in Italy.

Previous projects include renovations at Naval Air Station Sigonella and Naval Support Activity Naples, as well as a combat rescue helicopter simulator facility and storage projects at Aviano Air Base.

Construction is expected to be completed in August 2030.

KEY QUOTE:

“Sigonella plays an important role in supporting operations across the Mediterranean, and this project will provide critical infrastructure to help sustain that mission. We know this installation and the challenges of delivering complex construction in an active operational environment. Through our previous work at Sigonella, our teams built strong relationships with the Government and our trade partners that helped solve issues quickly and keep the work moving. We’re proud to bring that experience and those relationships back to Sigonella for this project.”
