Continuim Equity Partners Acquires Majority Stake In Resodyn

Continuim Equity Partners has acquired a majority interest in Resodyn Corporation and the assets of Resodyn Acoustic Mixers while also providing additional growth capital to support the expansion of the industrial mixing technology company. The transaction represents the fifth platform investment from Continuim Equity Partners Fund II and the firm’s 11th platform acquisition overall.

Resodyn develops advanced industrial mixing systems based on its proprietary ResonantAcoustic Mixing technology, which uses low-frequency, high-intensity acoustic energy to mix materials without conventional blades, impellers or other contact-based mixing components.

The company says its technology can process materials approximately 10 to 100 times faster than conventional mixing approaches while improving uniformity across the resulting material.

Rather than relying on mechanical mixing tools that physically move through a product, ResonantAcoustic Mixing applies controlled acoustic energy throughout the material being processed.

That approach can be particularly useful for applications involving powders, liquids, viscous materials and other formulations where uniform distribution can be difficult to achieve with traditional equipment.

Resodyn’s technology is already deployed across more than 40 countries and serves customers in aerospace and defense, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, additive manufacturing, batteries, energy storage and other industrial markets.

Those applications can involve highly engineered materials where consistency and repeatability are important to product performance.

In aerospace and defense, for example, advanced materials may require precise mixing characteristics before they can be incorporated into components or other systems.

Pharmaceutical and chemical applications similarly require tightly controlled formulations, while additive manufacturing and battery production can depend on uniform mixtures of powders and other materials.

Resodyn’s exposure to these markets gives Continuim a platform positioned across several areas benefiting from increased investment in advanced manufacturing.

The investment also provides Resodyn with additional capital to increase manufacturing capacity as demand for its technology grows.

Continuim plans to support expansion of the company’s geographic reach and product portfolio in addition to increasing production capabilities.

Additional manufacturing capacity could allow Resodyn to shorten lead times and support a larger number of customers, while geographic expansion could increase adoption in markets where the company currently has a more limited commercial presence.

Product development represents another potential growth avenue.

Because ResonantAcoustic Mixing can be applied across different materials and production environments, the underlying technology may support a broader range of systems tailored to specific industries, production volumes and use cases.

Resodyn Founder Lawrence Farrar will remain a shareholder following the transaction, maintaining an ownership interest in the company he helped build.

Farrar will transition from President and CEO to Chief Technology Officer.

In that role, he is expected to focus more heavily on technology development and innovation as Continuim and the broader management team work to scale the commercial organization.

The transition allows Resodyn to retain Farrar’s technical expertise while creating a leadership structure designed to support the company’s next stage of growth.

For Continuim, the transaction fits its strategy of acquiring and building lower-middle-market industrial businesses with differentiated capabilities.

The firm’s decision to provide additional growth capital alongside the acquisition indicates that the investment is intended to support expansion rather than simply represent a change in ownership.

Continuim can potentially provide resources for new equipment, manufacturing investments, sales expansion and product development while also supporting future acquisitions if complementary opportunities emerge.

The transaction also gives the private equity firm exposure to industrial processes that are becoming increasingly important as manufacturers work with more sophisticated materials.

Growth in battery manufacturing, energy storage, additive manufacturing and advanced aerospace technologies is increasing the need for production equipment capable of handling specialized formulations efficiently and consistently.

Resodyn is positioned within those workflows through technology designed to improve both processing speed and material uniformity.

The company’s installed base across more than 40 countries also provides an established foundation for expansion.

Existing customers and installations can create opportunities for additional equipment sales, upgrades, support and broader adoption of the technology across manufacturing sites.

By expanding Resodyn’s production capacity and commercial reach, Continuim plans to build on that installed base and accelerate penetration across both existing and new end markets.

The deal marks another platform investment for Continuim Equity Partners Fund II and adds a specialized industrial technology company to the firm’s portfolio.

With Continuim providing capital for manufacturing, geographic and product expansion, and Farrar remaining involved as Chief Technology Officer and shareholder, Resodyn is entering its next growth phase with both institutional backing and continuity in its technical leadership.

KEY QUOTE:

“Continuim has the experience and resources to propel Resodyn’s growth far beyond what we could achieve independently.”

Lawrence Farrar, Founder Of Resodyn
