Contrario: $2.3 Million Raised For AI Recruiting Platform That Hit $6 Million Annualized Revenue

Contrario, an AI-native recruiting platform built for high-growth companies, officially launched after reaching $6 million in annualized revenue and paying more than $1 million to recruiters in under six months.

The San Francisco-based company combines expert recruiters with AI agents that automate operational recruiting tasks, helping companies hire faster while enabling recruiters to focus on candidate relationships and closing hires.

Contrario said its platform is already being used by more than 200 companies, including Slash, Wispr Flow, and Listen Labs. The company also announced it closed a $2.3 million seed funding round led by Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from Inventum Ventures and Goodwater Capital.

The company was founded by Arya Marwaha and Aditya Sood, who met in their freshman dorm at Stanford University before dropping out of their master’s programs to build the company full time. Before launching Contrario, Marwaha bootstrapped a startup to six-figure ARR, worked at Boston Consulting Group, and led research at Stanford HCI, while Sood conducted NLP research at NASA and published through Stanford AI Lab and Anthropic.

Contrario said it integrates directly into a company’s Slack and applicant tracking systems to automate tasks such as scheduling, coordination, and follow-ups. The company positions itself as a hybrid between traditional recruiting agencies and AI recruiting software by combining human recruiters with AI-powered workflows.

According to the company, businesses using the platform receive candidates three times faster than through traditional recruiting agencies and platforms, while 80% of submitted candidates advance to first-round interviews. Contrario also said top recruiters on the platform earn more than $100,000 per month.
