Control Devices, a portfolio company of HBM Holdings, has acquired Sherwood Valve in a deal aimed at broadening its flow control offering across industrial gas, specialty gas, high-purity gas and medical gas applications. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Control Devices said the acquisition adds a well-known brand and a complementary product lineup, and is expected to strengthen its position in the compressed gas industry. The company also said combining Sherwood’s engineering, manufacturing and application expertise will enhance Control Devices’ design and development capabilities and support expansion in key markets.
Founded in 1928, Sherwood Valve manufactures compressed gas valves and flow control components for industrial, specialty, high-purity and appliance gas applications. Sherwood operates in Cleveland, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is described as the leading North American manufacturer of industrial cylinder valves. Control Devices and HBM Holdings said they will welcome about 75 Sherwood employees as part of the transaction.
