Convergint has acquired Surveillance Systems Incorporated, marking the security and fire-and-life-safety services company’s entry into the gaming industry. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced.
Surveillance Systems Incorporated, known as SSI, provides integrated surveillance and security systems for gaming customers and has developed expertise supporting complex and highly regulated casino and gaming environments.
The acquisition gives Convergint an established foundation for building a dedicated gaming security practice in North America and potentially expanding the business internationally.
SSI brings relationships with major gaming operators as well as expertise in specialized surveillance and integrated security requirements.
Convergint plans to combine that industry knowledge with its larger service organization, systems integration capabilities and global footprint.
The transaction also gives SSI customers access to Convergint’s broader range of resources and services while allowing Convergint to enter a new vertical market with an established operating team.
The acquisition fits Convergint’s strategy of combining organic expansion with targeted acquisitions that bring specialized expertise or provide entry into new markets and geographies.
Convergint was founded in 2001 and is headquartered in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The company operates from more than 200 locations and has more than 11,000 employees worldwide.
Its existing markets include critical infrastructure, data centers, financial institutions, healthcare and the public sector.
Gaming adds another highly regulated customer segment where security, surveillance, compliance and system reliability are particularly important.
KEY QUOTES:
“Gaming represents a significant growth opportunity for Convergint, and SSI provides the expertise, relationships, and market knowledge to establish a strong foundation.”
