CookUnity: $250 Million Raised From General Catalyst To Accelerate North American Expansion

By Amit Chowdhry • Nov 25, 2025

CookUnity has secured up to $250 million in non-dilutive financing from General Catalyst, marking one of the largest capital injections into a chef-driven meal delivery platform and positioning the company for an expanded customer acquisition push across North America. The funding follows a period of rapid operational growth, with CookUnity reporting a more than 75% increase in total meals ordered for the twelve months ending October 2025 compared to the prior year.

The New York-based company, which operates a chef-to-consumer model distinct from traditional meal services, said the new financing will accelerate its next phase of expansion. CookUnity plans to broaden marketing efforts, scale its roster of award-winning chefs, and strengthen its geographic reach across the United States and Canada.

CookUnity’s model provides chefs with fully equipped kitchens, sourcing, packaging, and delivery support while allowing them to maintain creative freedom. The company reports that the average chef on its platform earns $850,000 annually, with top earners exceeding $7 million. The platform now features more than 180 chefs and a weekly menu of more than 300 dishes.

The company added several high-profile chefs this year, including Marcus Samuelsson, Rick Bayless, and Cat Cora, reflecting a continued shift in how culinary talent expands its reach without investing in new brick-and-mortar restaurants. CookUnity also continues to scale its Canadian presence, most recently adding Michelin-starred Toronto-based chef Patrick Kriss. Prominent U.S. chefs such as Einat Admony, Jose Garces, and Chris Ratel have likewise expanded their offerings into Canada through the platform.

The company is also preparing a new brand campaign titled “Chefs to the People,” aimed at growing subscriber engagement and reinforcing CookUnity’s mission to bring chef-crafted meals directly into homes throughout North America. CookUnity, founded in 2016, has grown from a single Brooklyn kitchen to eight kitchens across the U.S. and Canada.
