CoreWeave announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Marimo Inc., the company behind the open-source marimo notebook. Marimo’s AI-native, reactive development environment for Python is designed for AI and data workloads, and its integration will strengthen CoreWeave’s mission to build the most comprehensive developer platform for artificial intelligence.
CoreWeave, the first cloud infrastructure purpose-built for AI, powers many of the world’s leading labs, enterprises, and developers in rushing from concept to deployment. By bringing Marimo into its ecosystem, CoreWeave combines its high-performance cloud infrastructure with open-source innovation, accelerating how developers build, train, and deploy AI applications.
Marimo’s technology will be integrated directly into CoreWeave Cloud to create a unified developer experience spanning training, inference, data movement, and continuous iteration. The acquisition will enhance CoreWeave’s vertically integrated platform, enabling developers to build, scale, and deploy AI applications more efficiently.
Marimo’s flagship marimo notebook offers a reproducible and git-friendly environment for Python developers, allowing seamless transition from early experimentation to full-scale production deployment. Marimo will join CoreWeave’s growing ecosystem that includes Weights & Biases and OpenPipe, augmenting the platform’s MLOps and reinforcement learning capabilities.
CoreWeave will continue to support and advance Marimo’s open-source roadmap, maintaining its permissive licensing and transparency-driven development approach. The acquisition follows a series of recent strategic moves by CoreWeave, including its May 2025 acquisition of Weights & Biases to build an end-to-end AI developer platform, and its planned acquisition of Monolith AI, an engineering AI pioneer.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Morgan Stanley served as the exclusive financial advisor to Marimo.
