CoreWeave To Buy OpenPipe For Reinforcement Learning Platform

By Amit Chowdhry • Sep 8, 2025

CoreWeave has announced an agreement to buy OpenPipe, a company recognized for its leadership in reinforcement learning (RL) and its widely adopted developer tools for training AI agents. This acquisition marks another strategic step in CoreWeave’s ongoing effort to build a vertically integrated AI infrastructure stack, following its recent acquisition of Weights & Biases.

OpenPipe has developed a robust framework that enables developers to post-train AI agents using reinforcement learning tailored to their own workflows. This approach enables agents to learn from experience, improving their accuracy, responsiveness, and reliability over time.

The company’s open-source toolkit, Agent Reinforcement Trainer (ART), has become a go-to resource for AI labs seeking to build agents that can solve complex problems autonomously. Additionally, OpenPipe provides a powerful tool for adapting AI models to new tasks, enabling enterprises to deploy custom solutions without the overhead typically associated with traditional training pipelines.

The acquisition comes at a time when reinforcement learning is gaining traction across industries. AI labs and enterprise teams are investing heavily in RL to enhance decision-making, automate complex processes, and deliver more personalized user experiences. OpenPipe’s technology lowers the barrier to entry for these organizations, making it easier to integrate RL into existing workflows and infrastructure.

CoreWeave’s platform is purpose-built for AI workloads, offering the scale, speed, and flexibility required to support advanced model training and deployment. By integrating OpenPipe into its ecosystem, CoreWeave is expanding its capabilities in reinforcement learning and fine-tuning, providing customers with greater control over how their models evolve and perform in real-world environments.

The terms of the acquisition were undisclosed.
