Corient, a global wealth management and multi-family office firm, has acquired FortCay Family Advisory, a Cayman Islands-based wealth manager serving 14 ultra-high-net-worth families with approximately $2.6 billion in client assets. The transaction establishes Corient’s presence in the Cayman Islands and expands its ability to provide wealth management and family office services to clients with complex international financial requirements.
Founded by Billy Harty and Matt Houghton, FortCay provides comprehensive wealth management, estate planning, and family office advisory services.
The acquisition will integrate FortCay’s specialized expertise and existing client relationships into Corient’s international platform, expanding the firm’s capabilities in a major global private wealth jurisdiction.
The Cayman Islands play an important role in international wealth management, including establishing and administering investment structures used by families with financial interests across multiple countries.
Corient said its expansion into the jurisdiction will strengthen its ability to advise clients whose business activities, investment portfolios, residences, and estate planning requirements span international markets.
For FortCay, joining Corient provides access to a larger global organization while maintaining its emphasis on personalized financial advice and family office services.
The transaction also expands Corient’s network of professionals serving ultra-high-net-worth families that require coordination across investment management, wealth strategy, and estate planning.
The firm operates through a private partnership model designed to encourage collaboration among advisors and specialists across its organization.
Under this structure, Corient seeks to give clients access to expertise from different parts of the business rather than relying exclusively on an individual relationship manager.
This approach is intended to address the needs of families whose financial affairs involve multiple jurisdictions, complex investment structures, and intergenerational wealth planning.
FortCay’s addition will provide Corient with an established team in the Cayman Islands, giving the firm a local presence in a market frequently used for international investment and family wealth structures.
The acquisition marks another step in Corient’s international expansion, broadening its geographic presence and adding specialist advisory capabilities.
Established in 2020, Corient has expanded through business development and acquisitions.
The firm reports approximately $572 billion in global client assets, supported by more than 300 partners and over 2,700 employees.
Corient describes itself as the world’s largest multi-family office and non-bank wealth manager focused on ultra-high-net-worth and high-net-worth clients.
Its services include investment management, wealth strategy, estate-related planning, and comprehensive family office support.
The firm emphasizes fee transparency and a partnership-based approach intended to provide clients with coordinated access to financial specialists across its global organization.
Corient’s reported global client asset figure includes assets associated with businesses in which its parent company holds majority or minority ownership interests. It also includes assets from transactions that have been signed but have not yet closed and remain subject to regulatory approvals.
Corient’s approximately $572 billion client asset figure is dated August 31, 2026, while its partner and employee counts are dated June 30, 2026. FortCay’s approximately $2.6 billion in client assets is dated July 31, 2026.
The acquisition adds another international market to Corient’s platform and strengthens its presence in a jurisdiction associated with complex cross-border wealth planning.
FortCay’s founders have developed a business focused on serving a relatively small number of ultra-high-net-worth families with comprehensive advisory services.
By joining Corient, the FortCay team will gain access to additional investment management and wealth planning resources while contributing its knowledge of the Cayman Islands market to the larger organization.
The transaction also creates opportunities for Corient’s existing clients to access specialists familiar with the jurisdiction’s financial and estate planning requirements.
