Cracker Barrel Appoints Former Bloomin’ Brands CEO David Deno As Chief Executive Officer

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store has appointed David Deno as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective August 10, 2026.

Deno will also join the company’s board of directors. He succeeds Julie Masino, who will step down as CEO and director on the same date.

Masino will remain with Cracker Barrel in an advisory capacity through October 9, 2026, helping support the leadership transition and the continuation of the company’s strategic initiatives.

Cracker Barrel selected Deno following a comprehensive succession-planning and executive-search process. The board highlighted his experience improving operations, strengthening financial performance and supporting growth across restaurant and retail businesses.

Deno brings more than four decades of industry experience. He most recently served as CEO of Bloomin’ Brands from 2019 through 2024, overseeing a restaurant portfolio that includes Outback Steakhouse and other brands.

Before becoming CEO, Deno served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Bloomin’ Brands from 2012 through 2019. He helped lead the company through its initial public offering and subsequently worked to strengthen its financial foundation and expand its international presence.

Deno previously held leadership positions at Best Buy, including President of Asia and Chief Financial Officer of the company’s international division.

He also spent 15 years in operational and financial roles at Yum! Brands and Pizza Hut. His positions included Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Yum! Brands and Chief Financial Officer of Pizza Hut.

Deno began his restaurant career at Burger King and currently serves on the boards of Krispy Kreme and Panera Brands.

As CEO, Deno will be responsible for improving Cracker Barrel’s operating and financial performance while maintaining the brand’s hospitality and dining experience.

Cracker Barrel operates approximately 660 company-owned locations across 43 states. Its restaurants combine homestyle dining with retail stores that sell gifts, food products, and other merchandise.

The succession places an executive with financial, operational and international experience at the head of the company as it works to generate profitable growth and strengthen shareholder value.
