Craig Hospital announced that it has joined SCI Ventures as an Alliance Partner. The partnership reinforces a shared commitment to advancing new therapies for people living with paralysis and spinal cord injuries.
Through the partnership, Craig Hospital will invest in SCI Ventures, join the fund’s board of directors, and contribute clinical expertise and connections to the patient community.
Craig Hospital is a nationally recognized neurorehabilitation and research hospital specializing in care for individuals who have sustained spinal cord and brain injuries.
SCI Ventures is a specialist venture fund focused on paralysis and neuro-restoration. The fund was created to help bridge the early-stage funding gap that has slowed the translation of promising neuroscience discoveries into clinical impact.
SCI Ventures was co-founded in 2023 by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, Shepherd Center, Wings for Life, Spinal Research, and Promobilia Foundation.
The fund has built a portfolio of eight biotech and neurotechnology companies, with six already advancing programs in human studies. SCI Ventures has also attracted more than $500 million in follow-on investments from venture capital firms.
Portfolio companies include ONWARD Medical, which is focused on targeted spinal stimulation and received FDA approval for a therapy in chronic spinal cord injury; EG427, which is developing targeted gene therapy for bladder dysfunction; and Healx AI, which uses artificial intelligence to identify and advance repurposed drugs for spinal cord injury.
Craig Hospital’s role as an Alliance Partner is expected to support SCI Ventures’ efforts to de-risk innovation, provide clinical validation, and accelerate the development of therapies designed to improve function and patient outcomes.
