- Dialpad founder and CEO Craig Walker revealed how 5G is going to change the future of work
Craig Walker is known as the founder & CEO at Dialpad. Before that, he was the entrepreneur in residence at Google Ventures and was the founder and senior product manager at Google Voice. Google had acquired his personal communications company GrandCentral in 2007.
Dialpad is known for making a cloud phone system that simplifies business communications. And Dialpad’s software shows transcriptions on their screens in real-time. Plus the company uses AI to provide suggested answers to questions from customers.
Dialpad has 450 employees and the company is preparing for the launch of fifth-generation (5G) wireless networks. 5G is going to enable Dialpad to expand products for mobile customers.
Dialpad’s features are mostly available to desktop users. But the rollout of 5G will enable the company to expand its offerings to mobile devices.
“Once we get to a point of being able to assume the end-user has this level of connectivity, we can start pushing out all these features to mobile,” said Walker in an interview with Inc.
Through 5G, Walker said that mobile phones will have “all the functionality that your computer has when it’s connected to a super high-speed network.”
Walker also pointed out that you will be able to get crystal clear picture on video conference calls without having to connect to Wi-Fi. And you will also be able to add more people to conference calls without losing quality.
“You’d get a little constrained by the screen size and how much your eyes can discern, but at the end of the day those are just user interface and design limitations,” added Walker via Inc. “You no longer have boundaries that are based on the network quality.”
As a result, companies will be less hesitant about hiring remote employees. So Walker said that the future of work is letting people be productive wherever they are.
