Critical Materials Group has raised $10.3 million in seed funding led by Overmatch Ventures, with participation from Victory Six Advisors and Fulcrum Ventures.
The Texas-based company plans to use the funding to accelerate development and commissioning of its modular energetics production platform, expand its engineering and operations organization and advance regulatory milestones.
Founded in 2025, Critical Materials Group is developing modular, automation-ready manufacturing platforms intended to add capacity to the existing U.S. energetics industrial base.
The company is positioning its technology as complementary infrastructure for established manufacturers and defense primes that need additional production flexibility and surge capacity.
The financing will also help CMG meet commitments across its existing contract portfolio, accelerate facility commissioning and expand its government relations and regulatory compliance infrastructure as demand from U.S. government customers increases.
CMG’s founding team brings experience spanning military service, defense contracting, procurement and energetic materials research.
KEY QUOTES:
“The U.S. energetics industrial base, from the GOCOs to the prime contractors that depend on them, has been the backbone of American energetics for generations – CMG was built to add capacity to that ecosystem. This funding accelerates our ability to bring modular, automation-ready production online as a complementary source that gives the industrial base the flexibility and surge capacity it needs to meet a demand signal that isn’t slowing down.”
Kevin Capozzoli, CEO and Co-Founder of Critical Materials Group
“CMG sits at the intersection of geopolitics and deep tech. Energetics, like rare earth minerals, sit upstream of nearly every U.S. kinetic capability, and recent conflicts have exposed the enormous gap between peacetime production and wartime consumption. But Kevin and Travis are ultimately why we led this round. Kevin is an uncommon combination of end-user and exceptional operator. He has seen firsthand what a thin industrial base costs downrange. Travis runs one of the few private labs in the country that can formulate, test, and qualify energetic materials. Together, they are the team to rebuild the arsenal we need to deter, and if necessary defeat, our adversaries.”
