Crowley, a global logistics, maritime, and energy solutions company, has appointed Brea Schmidt as Chief Financial Officer, expanding her responsibilities after she joined the company as Vice President of Finance in 2025. In her new role, Schmidt will oversee Crowley’s enterprise-wide financial performance and strategy, including financial planning, capital allocation, and governance.
Based in Jacksonville, Florida, Schmidt will report directly to Chairman and CEO Tom Crowley.
Her responsibilities will encompass financial oversight across Crowley’s logistics, shipping, government services, and energy businesses. She will also help guide the company’s investments in vessels, terminals, technology, and other assets supporting its operations.
The appointment follows Schmidt’s work leading financial planning and analysis across Crowley since joining the company in 2025.
During that period, she has gained experience with the company’s enterprise-wide financial operations and the capital requirements associated with its diversified businesses.
As CFO, Schmidt will coordinate financial performance and support decisions on investment priorities and the allocation of corporate resources.
Her appointment reflects Crowley’s emphasis on financial discipline as the company continues investing in infrastructure and technology across its business segments.
Before joining Crowley, Schmidt served as CFO of Alaska Communications, bringing experience managing the financial operations of a capital-intensive communications business.
Her background includes financial planning, strategic analysis, corporate finance, and financial stewardship, capabilities that will support her responsibilities across Crowley’s global operations.
At Crowley, capital investment decisions involve a broad range of assets and operating requirements. Its maritime and logistics activities depend on transportation infrastructure, while its government and energy businesses have their own operational and financial priorities.
Schmidt’s role will include evaluating these requirements and supporting the company’s ability to allocate capital across its business portfolio.
Her responsibilities will also extend to financial governance, helping Crowley maintain oversight of its enterprise financial activities while supporting operational performance.
The company identified Schmidt’s experience in capital-intensive industries as an important qualification for her new position.
Her previous role leading Crowley’s financial planning and analysis function also provides continuity as she assumes broader executive responsibilities.
Schmidt holds a degree in business administration from Washburn University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. She also previously held a Certified Public Accountant license.
Her combination of corporate finance experience and professional qualifications will support her work overseeing financial strategy and capital allocation across Crowley’s businesses.
The appointment establishes Schmidt as Crowley’s senior-most executive responsible for financial performance and strategy, with direct accountability to the company’s chairman and CEO.
