Crux Labs has emerged from stealth with more than $6 million in oversubscribed funding to develop technology that helps enterprises evaluate AI agents against human expertise and continuously improve their performance. Benchstrength and Misneach co-led the round, with participation from Analog Ventures and Pareto Holdings.
Crux plans to use the financing to expand research and engineering and accelerate deployments with enterprise customers.
The company is addressing a challenge created by growing deployment of AI agents across large organizations.
Many companies manually review only a small percentage of agent interactions, making it difficult to identify uncommon failures and understand whether agents are consistently making decisions that match company expectations.
Crux captures expert judgment from existing business workflows and uses that knowledge to create custom evaluations for AI systems.
Those evaluations can then monitor 100% of production traffic rather than relying on samples.
The platform also uses evaluation results to continuously improve agents and deploy those changes into production.
Crux said it is gaining traction among Fortune 500 companies and high-growth businesses in healthcare, cybersecurity, financial services, and other industries where agent performance can have significant consequences.
The company was founded by Julie Kheyfets and Krishna Kulkarni, who met at Princeton.
Kheyfets previously led North American operations for Tractable AI and served as CEO of Block Renovation.
Kulkarni previously led brand engineering at Meta, worked on AI products at Checkr, and helped scale Healthify to approximately 20 million patients.
The company is expanding a team of researchers and engineers focused on AI agent evaluation and improvement.
