Cubic has appointed Elliot “Lee” Sander President and Chief Executive Officer of Cubic Transportation Systems, effective immediately.
Sander will report to Stevan Slijepcevic, Chairman, President and CEO of Cubic Corporation.
He succeeds Slijepcevic, who had been serving as interim President of Cubic Transportation Systems.
The appointment follows a multi-month search focused on identifying a leader with transportation-sector experience, an understanding of customer needs and a track record of guiding organizations through significant change.
Sander has already worked closely with the Cubic Transportation Systems business.
He began serving as an adviser to CTS in August 2025 and became Executive Chairman in June 2026.
Those positions gave Sander experience working directly with the company’s executives, employees and customers before assuming the CEO position.
Sander previously served as Executive Director and CEO of New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority and as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Transportation.
His private-sector leadership experience includes leading Bombardier Transportation Americas and building AECOM’s global transportation division.
Sander also founded the National Association of City Transportation Officials and previously served as Chairman of the Regional Plan Association.
Cubic Transportation Systems provides fare payment technology to major transit systems in markets including New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Brisbane and New Zealand.
The company’s technology supports millions of passenger journeys each day.
CTS is also rolling out FEnX, its next-generation fare gate, in markets around the world.
Beyond fare collection, the business provides intelligent transportation systems that use real-time data and analytics to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and support road safety.
Sander will lead CTS as the company continues executing its strategy, strengthening operations and delivering transportation programs for public agencies globally.
