CuriosityStream has acquired the remaining ownership interests in its German operations from longtime partners SPIEGEL TV and Autentic, giving the company full control of one of its most important international markets. The move strengthens CuriosityStream’s position across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and is intended to unlock new growth, operational efficiencies, and revenue opportunities.
The German business was originally established through a 2021 joint venture focused on premium factual programming for German-speaking audiences. Following the acquisition, Saevar Lemke will continue to lead the German operations as General Manager, providing continuity for employees, partners, and customers while overseeing the next phase of expansion.

With complete ownership, CuriosityStream plans to streamline operations, integrate its German assets more tightly into the global organization, and leverage the company’s technology, content library, advertising, distribution, and AI licensing capabilities. The goal is to create additional monetization opportunities across subscription, linear television, FAST channels, traditional licensing, and AI training partnerships.
The transaction advances CuriosityStream’s broader strategy to expand its international media footprint while strengthening its portfolio of owned and operated distribution assets. It also reinforces the company’s position as both a factual media brand and a major provider of rights‑cleared data and content for AI model training.
