CVC Marathon has promoted Karen Lau to Partner, recognizing her investment leadership across leveraged loans and collateralized loan obligations.
Lau serves as Portfolio Manager of CVC Marathon’s CLO & Leveraged Loans investment program and has played a central role in the continued growth of the firm’s leveraged credit business.
She joined the firm in 2022 and has extensive investment experience across leveraged credit markets.
Before joining CVC Marathon, Lau held investment positions at Blackstone, TPG and Onex.
The promotion comes shortly after CVC completed its acquisition of Marathon Asset Management.
The business became known as CVC Marathon following its acquisition by entities controlled by CVC Capital Partners on July 1, 2026. Marathon was founded by Bruce Richards and Louis Hanover in 1998.
CVC Marathon now operates as part of CVC Group’s global private and public credit platform.
CVC Group manages more than $80 billion in credit assets globally, while CVC Marathon invests across asset-based lending, direct lending, opportunistic credit and multi-asset public credit strategies. Those public-credit capabilities include structured credit, high yield, leveraged loans and emerging-market debt.
As Portfolio Manager for CLOs and leveraged loans, Lau oversees strategies operating in one of the largest segments of the corporate credit market.
Her promotion places her among the senior leadership of CVC Marathon as the organization integrates into CVC and continues developing its global credit franchise.
