Cypher AI, a company building AI-native digital infrastructure for life science research and development, announced it has raised $2 million in seed funding led by MaC Venture Capital, with participation from Epsilon Ventures, Connecticut Innovations, Sparta Group, and LiquidMetal Ventures.
Founded in 2025 by Yaoyu Yang, Cypher AI is developing a new operating layer for biotech research teams by replacing fragmented and manual systems with intelligent infrastructure that unifies experiment design, execution, analysis, and vendor coordination into a single platform.
The company said that life science R&D teams still depend heavily on spreadsheets and disconnected documentation systems that were not designed for modern scientific workflows. Cypher AI’s platform is designed to provide researchers with a unified workflow layer that supports experiment design, execution coordination, vendor management, and data analysis.
Since launching in 2025, Cypher AI said it has already gained early traction with biotechnology companies modernizing their R&D infrastructure, including DropGenie, Flock Bio, Bioqore, and WayBio. According to the company, more than 800 scientists have run over 100,000 laboratory and computational workflows through the platform.
Cypher AI said it is building a foundational infrastructure layer for life science R&D that combines laboratory information management systems, electronic lab notebooks, workflow orchestration, and AI-driven analysis into a unified platform for biotech teams. The company added that its adaptive research environment is intended to evolve alongside scientific workflows instead of relying on static software tools.
The funding will support the company’s efforts to expand its AI-native infrastructure platform for biotech, pharmaceutical, and research organizations seeking to accelerate scientific discovery and innovation.
KEY QUOTES:
“Life science R&D today still relies heavily on outdated tools such as spreadsheets and fragmented documentation systems that were never designed for modern scientific workflows. We are replacing that tech stack with an AI-native platform built for dynamic scientific environments, enabling researchers to design experiments, coordinate execution, manage vendors, and analyze results within a unified intelligent workflow layer.”
Yaoyu Yang, PhD, Founder and CEO, Cypher AI
“The next generation of biotech won’t scale linearly. It can’t. The biology is too complex and the timelines are too compressed. What Cypher AI enables is an AI-native software foundation that lets companies like Bioqore grow in a fundamentally different way, where adding a new organism or a new client doesn’t mean rebuilding the stack.”
Josh Hinckley, PhD, CEO and Co-Founder, Bioqore
“Cypher AI is building foundational infrastructure for the next generation of life sciences companies and we’re excited to support them in their mission. Cypher AI is not only improving lab software, it’s rethinking the operating system for life science R&D. That shift has massive implications for speed, accuracy, and scale in biotech.”
