Darwin AI: $15 Million Series A Raised For Advancing Responsible AI Adoption In Government

Darwin AI, a leading platform enabling governments to adopt artificial intelligence safely, responsibly, and at scale, announced the close of a $15 million Series A funding round led by global software investor Insight Partners, with participation from existing investors UpWest and Resolute Ventures.

As part of the funding, Brenda Harvey, former General Manager of IBM Public Sector and Federal, and current Board Member at Nissan Motor Corporation, has joined Darwin’s Board of Directors.

The investment will accelerate the development of Darwin’s flagship products, Darwin Govern and Darwin LaunchPad, which serve as the foundation for responsible AI implementation in government agencies. The company will also expand its policy, training, and deployment teams to meet growing demand from agencies across states, including Texas, Ohio, California, Illinois, and Washington.

Darwin’s mission is to enable public agencies to balance innovation with accountability, transparency, and compliance as they deploy artificial intelligence in critical operations. Its Darwin Govern platform provides a centralized system of guardrails, helping agencies establish policy, manage records, enforce data governance, and ensure compliance with both existing and emerging AI regulations.

Building on that foundation, Darwin LaunchPad enables agencies to create and manage agentic workflows for mission-critical operations such as human resources, procurement, and permitting.

The company’s technology is designed to address a growing challenge in the public sector: the rise of “shadow AI” — unsanctioned or unmonitored AI tools that expose sensitive data and create compliance risks. Darwin helps agencies centralize oversight and enforce governance standards, ensuring AI usage aligns with mission objectives and regulatory requirements.

Darwin’s recent recognition in the Center for Public Sector AI’s AI 50 Awards highlights its leadership in responsible AI infrastructure. The new capital will strengthen Darwin’s position as a trusted partner for governments navigating the complexities of AI adoption.

The company’s leadership team includes experts in government technology, cybersecurity, and AI strategy. It has been strengthened most recently by the appointment of Dustin Haisler as Chief AI Officer and U.S. General Manager. Haisler brings more than a decade of experience leading e.Republic and serving in CIO roles in the public sector.

KEY QUOTES:

“Agencies need to ensure AI adoption complies with existing regulations like public records laws, while also meeting emerging state and federal AI standards that require guardrails, inventories, and full visibility. Darwin gives agencies a clear path to achieve compliance while accelerating innovation. The momentum we’re seeing from customers nationwide underscores how urgently this capability is needed.”

Noam Maital, Co-founder and CEO, Darwin AI

“The opportunity for AI in the public sector is massive, and Darwin is capturing it with practical infrastructure that allows government to move from pilots to real AI transformation. The Darwin team combines deep experience in government and technology with a sharp focus on execution. We look forward to supporting them as they build the foundation for AI in the public sector.”
