Datacor Acquires MySep To Expand Process Separator Simulation Capabilities

Datacor has acquired MySep, a developer of simulation software used for the design and performance analysis of process separators, expanding Datacor’s portfolio of specialized engineering software for process industries.

The acquisition adds MySep’s separator modeling technology to a Datacor engineering portfolio that already includes CHEMCAD for chemical process design, its flow simulation software suite formerly known as Applied Flow Technology, and GoldSim for probabilistic risk analysis.

MySep was founded in 2013 and has focused on solving separation challenges across the oil and gas industry. Its software is used in applications spanning upstream production, gas processing and liquefied natural gas, refining, and petrochemicals.

Process separators are used to separate different phases or components within industrial process streams, making accurate modeling important for equipment design and operating performance. MySep’s software enables engineers to simulate separator behavior and evaluate how equipment is expected to perform under different process conditions.

By incorporating MySep into its engineering software portfolio, Datacor plans to broaden the range of process engineering analyses customers can perform across its technology ecosystem. The combination brings dedicated separator simulation capabilities alongside Datacor’s existing process design, flow simulation, and risk analysis products.

The acquisition also expands Datacor’s geographic presence. MySep is headquartered in Singapore, providing Datacor with an additional foothold in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions, where oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, and LNG industries represent significant markets for engineering software.

Datacor said the acquisition reflects its strategy of investing in specialized software supported by deep domain expertise. The company provides industry-specific technology to engineers, process manufacturers, and chemical distributors, with software designed to support complex technical and operational workflows.

MySep founder Guy Hellinx said joining Datacor will allow the company to combine its separator expertise with a broader portfolio of engineering capabilities. The businesses intend to provide customers with more comprehensive tools for analyzing and addressing process engineering challenges.
