Datamonk, a platform utilizing agentic AI to automate the migration of medical imaging data, has announced that it has raised $1.9 million in pre-seed funding. The funding round was led by Healthy.Capital and Nina Capital also included participation from prominent angel investors, including Jeroen Tas, formerly the Chief Innovation and Strategy Officer at Philips, and Harm-Jan Wessels, founder of Applicare, Forcare, and Healthsage AI. Existing investors Antler and Rabobank also contributed to the funding.
The funding raised will be allocated towards developing the platform further, enhancing AI capabilities, and expanding the team’s expertise. This significant investment aims to tackle one of the most pressing challenges in healthcare IT: the migration and cleaning of decades’ worth of medical imaging data.
Hospitals and imaging providers have amassed vast collections of X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs, typically stored in Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). These organizations are eager to modernize their systems, consolidate their data, and adopt artificial intelligence for improved patient care. However, traditional consultant-led migrations of millions of imaging studies can be both slow and costly, often extending over a year or more to complete.
Datamonk addresses these issues by leveraging agentic AI to automate the migration of PACS. This innovative approach not only accelerates the migration process but also improves overall data quality. The platform employs software agents that can identify and correct metadata issues, standardize naming conventions for studies, and ensure data integrity during the migration process. As a result, hospitals can go live with their systems five to ten times faster than with conventional methods, while also minimizing the manual effort and costs typically associated with consultant-led projects.
The founding team of Datamonk includes Jaap Gielink, a serial entrepreneur; Jai Bhatia, who co-founded Viewics Inc., a healthcare analytics platform that Roche Diagnostics acquired; and Matthew Condron, the former CTO of DesAcc, a leading healthcare data migration consultancy. This diverse and experienced team combines deep knowledge in healthcare data, cloud technologies, and artificial intelligence to build a robust data infrastructure that will support the future of modern healthcare.
With this new funding, Datamonk is well-positioned to make a significant impact in the healthcare sector, simplifying the migration process and driving improvements in data management for hospitals and imaging providers.
