Datawizz: $12.5 Million Seed Funding Raised To Scale Specialized Language Models

By Amit Chowdhry ● Oct 5, 2025

Datawizz, a startup founded in 2025 by Iddo Gino, has announced a $12.5 million seed funding round led by Human Capital, with additional backing from BGV, 91VC, and other investors. This funding will be used to expand the team, accelerate product development, and enter new markets across the United States and Europe.

Iddo Gino, known for building RapidAPI into the world’s largest API marketplace, launched Datawizz to address two significant problems in the AI space: the high cost of running large models and the inconsistent results they often produce. Instead of relying on massive, one-size-fits-all models,

Datawizz has developed a platform that creates and manages smaller, specialized models tailored to specific tasks. These Specialized Language Models, or SLMs, are trained to handle narrow domains with high precision and efficiency.

The platform works by analyzing an organization’s AI usage patterns and automatically generating expert models for different types of requests. Each model is approximately a thousand times smaller than a typical LLM, making them faster and more cost-effective to run. When a user submits a query, the system routes it to the most appropriate specialized model.

If no suitable model exists, it falls back to a general-purpose one. This approach dramatically reduces the cost of AI operations—by more than 85 percent in some cases—and improves response speed by five to fifteen times. It also delivers more consistent and accurate results, especially when the models are fine-tuned with human feedback.

One of the most essential aspects of Datawizz’s platform is its emphasis on ownership and privacy. Unlike many AI services that rely on external APIs and cloud providers, Datawizz allows customers to fully own their models and run them on-premises, on-device, or in private cloud environments. This means sensitive data never leaves the organization, and companies are no longer dependent on third-party providers to power their AI infrastructure.

How the funding will be used: With the funding and a clear vision for the future, Datawizz is positioning itself as a key player in the next wave of AI innovation, one that prioritizes precision, efficiency, and control over brute-force scale.

KEY QUOTES:

“Companies spent $8.4 billion on API calls to LLMs in just the first half of 2025 – more than double the figure for all of 2024. The pace of adoption is incredible. The challenge is that many applications have upside-down unit economics and deliver inconsistent results. Datawizz fixes this by replacing the massive generic models with smaller, Specialized Language Models that deliver faster, cheaper, and more accurate results.”

Iddo Gino, Founder and CEO of Datawizz

“Token costs for monolithic models break unit economics for many workloads. Datawizz provides an elegant and essential solution that will become a core component of the AI stack, and we are thrilled to partner with them to build the next generation of AI.”
