Dawson Partners: $750 Million Raised For GP Finance 2 Fund Above Target

Dawson Partners announced the final closing of its second GP-focused fund, Dawson GP Finance 2 LP, at its $750 million hard cap, surpassing its initial $500 million target. Including affiliated vehicles, total capital commitments reached $840 million, reinforcing the firm’s position in the expanding GP financing market.

The fund builds on Dawson’s strategy of providing structured, non-dilutive capital solutions to private equity sponsors. Since entering the GP solutions market in 2019, the firm has completed more than $8.5 billion across 32 transactions with 19 general partners. The latest fundraise comes amid what the firm described as a challenging fundraising environment, highlighting continued investor demand for flexible financing alternatives.

Dawson’s GP financing approach is designed to offer an alternative to traditional GP stake sales and management company financing. By delivering tailored capital solutions, the firm aims to support increased GP commitments, enhance balance sheet flexibility, and fund strategic initiatives while allowing sponsors to retain ownership and control.

The investor base for GP Finance 2 includes a wide range of institutional participants, including pension plans, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, and other financial institutions.
