DC Capital Partners said it has made a majority investment in Knexus, a Vienna, Virginia-based provider of applied artificial intelligence capabilities supporting mission-critical U.S. government programs. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Knexus, founded in 2006, works with U.S. defense and civilian agencies to design, build, and operate enterprise-grade AI systems that help customers deploy next-generation AI in production environments, including settings with high security and reliability requirements.

The company positions itself as a bridge between commercial AI technologies and federal mission needs, citing long-standing client relationships across government agencies and experience deploying Google-enabled AI solutions. Knexus said it is a Google Public Sector Premier Partner, an implementation partner for Gemini for Government, and the recipient of the 2025 Google Cloud Partner of the Year Award for Business Applications in Government.

DC Capital said the investment aligns with growing federal focus on modernizing operations and decision-making with AI. The firm said it plans to support Knexus’s next phase of growth through investment in business development, technology, and operations.

Knexus CEO Adam Lurie said the partnership will help the company scale its applied AI platform for government missions. DC Capital partner Jerry Chernock said Knexus has differentiated capabilities in moving AI from concept to production in environments where security and trust are paramount.

DC Capital, based in Alexandria, Virginia, said it focuses on control investments in middle market companies in U.S. government and engineering markets and takes an active ownership role. The firm cited recent investments in government services and defense technology, including C5MI, Rivencore Global Solutions, Valkyrie Enterprises, SiOnyx, Hill Technical Solutions, Digital Force Technologies, Revenue Solutions, and Owl Cyber Defense Solutions.

Knexus said its scientists and engineers hold three patents and have published more than 100 peer reviewed scientific papers, and that it brings expertise in Google Cloud AI products such as Vertex AI and Gemini models to public sector deployments.
