Debevoise & Plimpton added Brianna van Kan as a partner in its Intellectual Property & Technology Transactions Group in New York.
Van Kan brings experience advising on intellectual property and technology issues tied to complex corporate transactions and commercial arrangements.
She works with private equity sponsors, public companies, and strategic investors on intellectual property and technology matters involving mergers and acquisitions, carve-outs, joint ventures, restructurings, financings, and other transactions.
Her practice also includes licensing, data, collaborations, and other commercial arrangements across technology, entertainment, financial services, industrial, life sciences, and consumer sectors.
Debevoise said the appointment strengthens its capabilities as technology, data, and artificial intelligence play a larger role in corporate strategy and business operations.
Van Kan’s experience spans both major transactions and ongoing commercial matters involving technology and intellectual property.
Before joining Debevoise, she was a partner at another international law firm.
The firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Transactions Group advises clients on technology, intellectual property, and commercial issues arising from domestic and cross-border M&A, private equity transactions, financings, restructurings, strategic collaborations, and standalone commercial arrangements.
The group works with Debevoise’s Corporate, Healthcare & Life Sciences, and Data Strategy & Security teams on matters involving artificial intelligence, data-driven businesses, and complex technology licensing.
